Welcome to OCCC Reads! This year the Library continues the tradition of one book/one community programs. This year’s book is the anthology Water Matters: Why We Need to Act Now to Save Our Most Critical Resource.
We encourage all interested faculty to incorporate this classic into their curriculum for the fall and spring semester.
The Library will have free copies of the book for your classes before the fall semester begins. Teaching tools are available on our LibGuide.
The anthology includes chapters on agriculture, conservation, dams, ethics, our water future, public health, right to clean water, water supply, a variety of global “hot spots”, and other compelling topics.
The Library has created a LibGuide devoted to Water Matters. The LibGuide has a summary of each chapter in the book as well as reasons on how to use the chapter in your class. There are also links to water organizations, facts, resources, ways to make a difference, and more. This guide is a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions to share, let us know!
