OverDrive: Getting Started

Using Overdrive

OverDrive is the Library's primary source for best selling eBooks and eAudiobooks.  If you are looking for academic or scholarly ebooks, try the Academic eBook collection from EbscoHost.

There are multiple options for accessing eBooks and eAudiobooks from OverDrive:

  • Install the new Libby app (available in the ITunes and Google stores) to download titles to a computer, phone or other device.
  • Read or listen online directly through your computer browser with OverDrive Read.
  • Use your Amazon account and either a Kindle device or app to download Kindle formats.

Lending periods are 7 or 14 days. Titles may be renewed three days before the title is due if another patron has not placed a hold on it.

You may check out up to five titles and place three holds at a time.

If you hold a library card from a different library, such as the Metropolitan Library System or the Pioneer Library System, you may also access their OverDrive collections, which will have different titles and policies than the OCCC OverDrive collection.

For additional information, review the OverDrive help page.
