Overview and Guidelines

Acceptable Use Policy 

  • Students using the OCCC provided laptops must abide by the College's policy “No. 3058 Information Technology Resources Acceptable Use Policy."

Computers

Desktop Computers 

  • Computers are available to all OCCC students, staff and faculty, and to community members. 
  • Users shall be sixteen (16) years of age or older. Proof of age shall be provided upon request. 
  • Students, staff and faculty can log on with their Moodle/Portal username and password. 
  • Guests will need to present a valid federal or state photo ID at the Circulation Desk to receive a guest pass. 
  • The guest pass is good for two hours and a new pass can be requested once the two hours have elapsed, if there is sufficient availability. 
  • During busy periods, guest passes may not be issued so that computers remain available to current OCCC students. 
  • Users shall comply with the College's Network Acceptable Use Policy (College Policy No. 3058). 
  • Users shall not view any sexually explicit, obscene or harassing messages, images, or cartoons. 
  • Users shall not gain, or attempt to gain, unauthorized access to another user's computer or data. 
  • Users acknowledge they have no expectation of privacy except to the extent usage is confidential pursuant to the Family Educations Rights and Privacy Act or other federal or state statutes. 
  • OCCC reserves the right to, and does, monitor computer usage to ensure compliance with these standards, OCCC policies and federal and state laws. 
  • If any user is found in violation of these standards the College will take action consistent with its policies and procedures including, but not limited to, revocation of access to network services. 
  • Computers will be shut down five minutes prior to closing. 
  • All users are responsible for understanding the Computers Usage Policies.  

Personal Laptops 

  • Users shall comply with the College's Network Acceptable Use Policy (College Policy No. 3058). 
  • Users shall not view any sexually explicit, obscene or harassing messages, images, or cartoons. 
  • Users shall not gain, or attempt to gain, unauthorized access to another user's computer or data. 
  • Users acknowledge they have no expectation of privacy except to the extent usage is confidential pursuant to the Family Educations Rights and Privacy Act or other federal or state statutes. 
  • If any user is found in violation of these standards the College will take action consistent with its policies and procedures including, but not limited to, revocation of access to network services. 

Printers

  • Printing is available from most library computers. 
  • Currently enrolled students are allotted $20 of printing credit per semester that may be used prior to the requirement of cash payment. 
  • The printing credit is applied to the student's account once they initiate their first print for each semester.  
  • Non-students and students who use all their $20 credit will pay $.10 per sheet for black and white prints; color prints are $.50 per sheet.  Cash is required (bills and coins are accepted). 

Copy Center

  • The Copy Center is on the first floor of the OCCC Library next to the Circulation Desk. 
  • A copy machine is available at a cost of $.10 per page single sided, or $.20 for 11x17 and double-sided copies. 
  • Two digital scanners are also available and are free to use. 
    • You can send a scanned document to email or save them to a USB drive. 
    • Scanning is limited to 15 minutes per person if someone else needs to use the scanner.  
    • Scanners also deliver to a fax number. 
  • All users are responsible for understanding and abiding by current Copyright Law.
