Dr. Coltan Scrivner is an author and psychologist at Arizona State University. He is an internationally recognized expert on morbid curiosity and the psychology of horror and true crime.

He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Nightmare in the Ozarks Film Festival, and the author of Morbidly Curious: A Scientist Explains Why We Can’t Look Away, to be released this October.

A frequent speaker and media guest, he has been featured in The New York Times, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, TIME Magazine, National Geographic, Scientific American, Forbes, and dozens of other television programs, newspapers, magazines, radio shows, and podcasts.

Dr. Scrivner, a native of Noble, Oklahoma, earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and his master’s degree in forensics from the University of Central Oklahoma. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Chicago.
