A guide to locating evidence-based resources from the OCCC Library.

Evidence-Based Practice Books and eBooks

The OCCC Library owns many evidence-based practice books and eBooks. These books are available for checkout, both in the Library and online via EBSCO.

Find Books, eBooks, Online Films, and More

Search Books, eBooks, Online Films, and More in the OCCC Library Catalog

Use the OCCC Library Catalog to identify OCCC books, eBooks, online films, and more on your topic. Here are some tips for searching in the OCCC Library Catalog:

  • Keywords: Use keywords, not sentences like you may do in Google (example: wound care NOT how do you treat wounds)
  • Add Keywords: You may use multiple keywords when doing a search. Start with one and add others as needed to narrow your search (example: stroke and rehabilitation)
  • Publication Date: Be aware of the publication date. After your initial search, update the publication date to get rid of older titles in your results list.
  • Material Type: If you are looking for a specific material format, select from the "Material Type" list under "Limit Search Results" on the left.

Library eBooks - Brief Overview

The Library has an academic eBook platform that is available for you to use - EBSCOhost eBooks.

  • You can search for eBooks in the OCCC Library Catalog or the Academic eBooks link.
  • You will not be able to find the eBook database from the EBSCOhost database link under "Articles".
  • The EBSCO eBook Collection search, results, and options screens function very similar to the EBSCOhost article database search.

NOTE: Many people believe that using eBooks, everyone can read it at once. This is not true. If you are reading the book in your browser or you download the title, no one else can read the book. You can read the book in the browser, or read it on a device using the Bluefire app.
